Our Story

Eagles Wings Ministries – A Place of Hope for Women in Crisis

About twelve years ago, a small group of Jesus followers with very few resources began praying for a “God-sized” project — something so big, so impossible, that only He could receive the glory for it. We didn’t know what it would look like, but we watched and prayed for God to show us where He was already working.

What we saw were women — our neighbors, friends, and family members — caught in deep crisis. Many were struggling with broken relationships, loss, fear, and the pain of life’s storms. God gave us a deep love for these women and a vision for how He wanted to bring healing and restoration. Eagles Wings Ministries was born as a response — a desire to come alongside what God is doing: setting hearts free and restoring lives.

Here in Southeast Alaska, there is no long-term residential place for women in crisis — no safe, faith-based setting where women can heal, rebuild, and rediscover who they are in Christ. Many women must leave the area to find help, often returning home without the support of the community to continue their journey of recovery.

Alaska is generally known for its high cost of living. Recovery support is no exception. Eagles Wings Ministries does not bill third parties, which could impact our faith-based focus. Instead, donations from like-minded individuals and organizations cover the cost of services. To cover costs, a small fee is often funded by family, friends, or organizations that want to contribute to the recovery process.

At Eagles Wings Ministries, we offer Restoration through Discipleship, a model built on two God-given foundations: the family and the early church.

When a woman in crisis seeks a new beginning, she can apply to Eagles Wings Ministries through a local pastor, church connection, or through our website. Each woman who joins our program — referred to as a “Resident” — is paired with a mature Christian couple, known as Barnabas Volunteers, who provide mentorship, support, and a safe family environment. Up to two Residents live in each home alongside the Barnabas couple, forming a small, nurturing household built on love, accountability, and grace.

A typical week for Residents may include daily personal and weekly group Bible studies, discipleship, life skills and relationship training, community service, and biblical counseling. Each evening, Barnabas Volunteers and Residents gather together for a shared dinner and worship time — a moment of encouragement, laughter, and unity. Residents are encouraged to participate in the Alaskan way of life — fishing, gathering wood, growing and harvesting food — learning both responsibility and the joy of self-sufficiency.

Every woman in the program receives one-on-one support and care. The goal is not just short-term relief but long-term transformation — walking with each woman as she discovers her identity, purpose, and hope in Jesus Christ.

Eagles Wings Ministries exists to be the hands and feet of Jesus to women in crisis — helping them rise, heal, and soar again.
