Many updates and changes to Eagles Wings Ministries have happened over the last year. As supporters of the ministry, we wanted to update you on the latest news and information. We recognize we could not have come so far without your encouragement and support. Thank you! We value your prayers and continued support of our mission.
In 2023 the Board of Directors met to discuss the ministry and to fervently seek God for His direction. After spending months praying and fasting over the direction of Eagles Wings, the Lord laid on our hearts that He wanted us to broaden our scope for clientele to all women in crisis situations. Therefore our mission statement has become: “Eagles Wings ministries exists to launch women in crisis into new life through a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ and to equip them for life and service to others.”
The Lord, as always, immediately began blessing the ministry because of our obedience to Him. We continue to seek Him diligently for every direction He would have us make. God is so good and we are incredibly excited about the direction He is taking us and the areas he has opened to us for ministry. There is still much work to be done but God is faithful and we know that He will continue guiding and directing us down the path He would have us take. Our desire continues to be to serve God through serving women in crisis.
What does serving women in crisis look like? It looks like identifying women who need help in a vast arena of crisis situations. We are open to serving whomever the Lord bring our direction to expand His Kingdom and to share His love. Since our mission has broadened, women in need of transitional housing seems to be the direction God is using to open our doors. We have many people on Prince of Wales Island that are in need of temporary, safe housing and God had brought several possibilities for service in that area to our doorstep. We are also exploring the possibility of helping women coming out of abusive situations and we are still open to helping women coming out of addictions of various kinds.
God has also shown us that serving women in crisis looks very different from one woman to another. For some, it indeed means a loving Barnabas couple to model a Christian marriage. For others, it means deep individual counseling and accountability, and still for others it means loving on them through example and service. Since God created us to be unique, we recognize that everyone’s journey to wholeness is also unique and should be treated accordingly. As the Lord brings us women to serve, He will also guide and direct us in their recovery.
Our first client has come to our doors through a way that only God could have orchestrated. While we cannot release any specific details about her situation due to respecting her privacy, the Lord has given us “Cindy” (as we will call her here) to show us how to walk through the various methods of recovery He may bring to us. Cindy is seeking spiritual and physical recovery and is receiving weekly Biblical counseling and accountability. Already, the Lord is leading Cindy into a relationship with Him, and we are rejoicing at how far she has come since she came to us. Praise the Lord for his mercy and grace!
This summer we will have limited teams to serve at Eagles Wings. The Lord has told us we need to slow down and wait for His pace because His pace is much better than ours. We are focusing on making connections with other organizations to be a safe haven for other women who need help. We are currently working to partner with H.O.P.E (Helping Ourselves Prevent Emergencies). Our prayer is that H.O.P.E. will refer potential clients to Eagles Wings who need respite housing. A second organization we are working to partner with is Prince of Wales Health Network. We currently are listed on their website as a faith-based option for resources and services. One of their Wellness Coordinators is very familiar with Eagles Wings and is very supportive of the ministry. Between the two organizations, we see the Lord working in incredible ways to serve women on Prince of Wales Island. While amazing things are happening, we can’t do this ministry alone. We need your help to continue with the dream of being ministers of Christ to women in crisis. Will you prayerfully consider supporting us in one of the following ways?
1. Pray for the ministry. We truly do desire first and foremost your prayers for guidance and direction for the ministry and for the women who God would like us to serve.
2. Spread the word. We are a grassroots organization and word of mouth is the most effective way of sharing our ministry. Let others know of the work God is doing in Alaska and that we are available for women who are seeking God and need help. If you know of someone who is ready to make a change, prayerfully consider sharing us with her and her with us.
3. Financial support. As we all know, the cost of living and overall expenses throughout the United States have gone up. We would be grateful if you made Eagles Wings Ministries part of your giving to the Lord. We are in the process of working to have online donations available, but until that can be accomplished, donations can be mailed to:
