Born and raised in Roseburg, Oregon, Steve McCord is a founding member of the ministry whose life has been marked by faith, service, and perseverance. After graduating from Portland State University in 1977, he worked for many years in the logging industry before Jesus radically changed his life that same year. In 1979, he spent two years in Africa as a short-term minister, beginning a lifelong pattern of going wherever God calls. He married his wife, Myrn, who had four children, and together they experienced both joys and sorrows, including the heartbreaking loss of their youngest daughter in an alcohol-related accident. Over the years, he has faithfully served through Bible studies, teaching, and leadership, leading four mission trips to Alaska in the early 2000s before moving there in 2008 to pastor a church. In 2011, while leading the study Experiencing God, he embraced the call to “join God where He is working” and began what would grow into Eagles Wings Ministries. Since then, he has been deeply involved in building projects and expanding the ministry’s reach. After his beloved wife went home to the Lord in 2017, he has continued pressing forward, committed to the work God has given him—until the Lord calls him to the next assignment.
